Dr. K. Umadevi is an accomplished academician and Special Education professional with a multidisciplinary academic background in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, and Law. She holds a Ph.D. in Education with specialization in Special Education, awarded for her research on “Effect of Early Interventions on Overall Development of Children with Developmental Disabilities.” With extensive academic and professional experience, she has contributed significantly to teaching, research, teacher education, rehabilitation, early intervention, inclusive education, and the educational and psychosocial empowerment of persons with disabilities. She has published 26 research articles in national and international journals and has participated in numerous academic and professional development programmes.

Her legal education — an LL.B. from Osmania University with specialization and professional academic interest in Women and Law — combined with her expertise in Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, Special Education and Education, provides her with a distinctive interdisciplinary perspective on women's rights, gender justice, legal awareness, protection and empowerment of women, disability rights, equality, social justice, and access to education and rehabilitation services. Her professional approach integrates legal, psychological, educational and rehabilitative perspectives, particularly in addressing issues concerning women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sections of society. She has also contributed to professional and regulatory activities, including serving as a Visiting Expert in inspections associated with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), demonstrating her commitment to academic standards, professional development and rights-based educational and rehabilitation practices.
